Sneaking in

So I somewhat pride myself on being able to weasel my way into free events and such when they are "at capacity"....I also enjoy the task of getting to the front row, so when my homie IM'd yesterday and invited me to see Tegan and Sara's live performance at Amoeba on Sunset, I figured hell why not? I don't follow music very closely, but I had heard songs and it sounded fun. By the time I got there it was around 5:30p and they were playing at 6....my homies had been waiting since 2! The line was around the corner and I thought to myself after paying 6 bucks for parking..."there's no way I'm getting into this thing" Jen gave me specific directions on what to say to the door people, and after contemplating other scenarios, I decided to stick with her plan and the third person I talked to let me cut the line and get in.

Amoeba did a webcast of the show, but I'm not sure if they'll archive it or not. I hope they do, it was fantastic (except for Jen's drunk stalker yelling vagina a bit too much - it was funny the first time)

My camera phone sucks, but I wanted a pic with the eye of the pyramid

In the woods with Julian

This short is on the splash page of youtube right now. The style is obviously Richard Linklater, but the candidness of Julian is what makes this short absolutely amazing.

Worst Movies Ever

The Worst Movies Ever
(In six categories)

Apple stores charge 5 bucks a pop to enter:

Cupertino, CA – If you want to see the iPhone at an Apple store, be sure to bring some cash. Large crowds flocking to see the iPhone and next generation iPods have forced Apple to begin charging a $5 entrance fee for Apple stores. Many analysts anticipated the move, and expect a positive response from customers.

"Part of the move was to limit crowds to keep the stores safe, but also we wanted to keep the right kind of people in the stores," said vice president of retail outlets, Vince Sciopiano. "By 'right kind of people' I mean true Apple customers with money, willing to pay just to look at our newest wares."

While Apple Geniuses patrol inside the store, Apple "Muscleheads" will guard the window displays and entrances.

For the $5 fee, customers will get an Apple button which will allow them entrance into the store and is used to track the customer's movements. Sciopiano noted that the $5 fee could be applied to purchases on that visit.

Customer reaction at a pilot project at the Apple Store in Canoga Park, California was positive. Alexander Hu, an avid Mac user, said, "I don't mind paying $5 to get into the store, if it keeps out the iPhone gawkers and Windows lusers who want to drool over the new Macs."

Not everyone was pleased though. Kyle Martin said, "Five dollars to just walk into the store? It's like they want to be elite snobs or something."

When told of the criticism, Sciopiano said, "That's exactly the case."

Apple shares were up on the news.
A big portion of my life lately has been drama. This is a little light hearted animated short about a Kung Fu Crab. I like it because as of recent I'm reading more about East Asian philosophies, Martial Arts, breathing, and anything else I can get my hands on in regards to turning negative energy into positive and not letting other unhappy people affect this great life I have. I feel more free than I ever have and really ready for anything.

Today is going to be hot girl on my blog day and with that...

Ms. Brittany Murphy

Those high heels are not your friend....
I'm missing one of my favorite bands tonight, Killola, so I can go play sidekick to my homie who is meeting some gal off the internet. Good to have a friend around is case 1) they're lame 2) they're crazy 3) a combination of the two

My buddy George shot this video for the band back a couple of years ago and is the one who got me hooked, so thanks George! haha

Lisa, the front gal also acts in the online series, Girltrash, which is pretty funny. She's great in it.

Check it out here:
Girltrash

They're just a rad interactive band, who care about their fans and love multimedia

Another documentary to check out is showing on Showtime right now
In Pot We Trust

Here is a youtube sample of a person who cannot get medical marijuana in her home state.
She made me cry.

The whole documentary is awesome. Shows all sides, but what stays with you is the people who need marijuana to be happy and to feel right.

Take God I live in California.

Friday film review

Last night we went over to a friend's house and watched, Cocaine Cowboys.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It came out in 2006, and is a complete overview of how Miami as a city is essentially built on a bunch of launder drug money. It was really long and violent, but I still thought it was good, because most of the time when you think of cocaine you think of Pablo Escobar, and he was but a small portion of this trade.

I'd recommend it to anyone interested in how illegal drugs have shaped American life and our connections to other countries.
